The STL fare structure is posted inside all the buses as well as at the various terminuses.
Seniors age 65 and over on October 31 of the current year are entitled to reduced fare. To benefit from this discount, they must present a valid OPUS card, with photo ID. This card may be issued by the STL, the STM, RTL or the AMT.
Users may pay their transportation either with their OPUS card loaded with a monthly pass or with tickets, or they may pay cash.
Methods of payment
You have a choice of three methods of payment: cash, tickets or a monthly pass.
Cash
Pay cash by putting the exact amount of money in the fare collection box (no change is given, pennies and paper money are not accepted.)
Ticket
Load the OPUS card with 8-trippers (blocks of 8 tickets) (regular or reduced fare).
A 90-minute transfer will automatically be coded on the card at the start of your trip.
Monthly pass
A monthly STL pass or a metropolitan pass (TRAM) allows you to make an unlimited number of trips during the month of validity.
A monthly STL pass is valid throughout the STL’s network.
A monthly metropolitan pass (TRAM) provides access to the territories served by the following transit corporations: STL, STM and RTL and the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT).
Monthly passes are generally available starting on the 20th of the month preceding the month of validity, and up to the 10th of the current month of validity. They may be purchased at one of the fifty or so points of sale spread throughout the STL’s territory as well as at the Cartier and Montmorency terminuses.
The supervisors’ service vehicles were replaced with hybrid vehicles in 2008. Thanks to this acquisition, the STL expects to reduce its annual consumption of fuel by approximately 29,000 litres for the seven vehicles in this fleet.
